The legs are gently splayed for stability and tapered for elegance. They are attached to the frame with an open ended, and open topped mortice, showing off the end grain.

The gap between the top of the legs and seat give the impression the seat is floating, and draws attention to the design of the legs.

The short side of the frame is joined to the long side with an exposed wedged mortice and tenon.

The frame and legs are pine, and the seat is aspen. Other wood types are possible.

Metal detector test - Pass. There are no metal screws or fasteners anywhere in this piece.
